It's nice to see video game stories can still surprise us, and this is the kind of thing that wouldn't be possible in non-interactive media. And I think the whole point is presenting a path to avoiding violence and ending the game immediately without spilling any blood, a joke and a food-for-thought lesson that can really only work if the game is cut dramatically short.
